Summer

|
Summer is the season in Whistler you must experience to believe. Flowers spill over the patios crowded with relaxed tourists and locals, who seem to have the time to stop and enjoy a street performer or some window-shopping. All summer, every day, jugglers, comedians, clowns and mountain bike stunt riders entertain the crowds wandering the cobblestone pedestrian walkways. For those who have never visited Whistler in summer the European ambience and the green of the surrounding peaks provide a truly a breathtaking backdrop for a summer community filled with every type of outdoor experience imaginable.
As always
there are unlimited family activities. Pristine mountain lakes,
perfect for swimming, parks and biking/walking trails are all
connected by the valley trails. Summer camps for kids are offered
that include activities like swimming, arts and crafts, board
sailing canoeing and in-line skating. In July you can ride up the
mountain participate in some glacier skiing in the morning and then
hike the fields of wildflowers after lunch. Every Sunday there is a
farmers market that features local produce and artisans of all
types. You can spend hours just wandering and relaxing in this
mountain haven.
However, the mountain bikers who wander
through the brick paved streets looking like extras from a Mad Max
movie give a hint that there is more to offer in Whistler than just
relaxation. If you crave excitement, don your body armor and hurtle
down the face of Whistler Mountain
on mountain bikes. If
water sports get your heart pumping then sign up for some whitewater
rafting, jet boating, kayaking or
canoeing on Whistlers raging mountain streams and rivers. If
flying makes your heart soar then paraglide off the top of
the mountain, take a helicopter or plane
tour of the valley, or strap on a harness and take a Ziptrek Ecotour
riding wires strung high in the canopy of British Columbias mountain
forests. If you really need a rush try bungee jumping.
Summer in Whistler is just as exciting as anything you can find in
the winter season! |
