Village
|
features a large (2 hour)
parking lot, and is surrounded by a major grocery store, pharmacy,
liquor store, banks, Canadian postal outlet,
real estate offices, restaurants, coffee
shops, fast food outlets and assorted stores. The emergency health clinic
is also located here behind the village on Lorimer Road. From here wide
pedestrian walkways will take you into the north side of the Village where art
galleries, cafes and stores continue to line the boulevards. From Village North
you can also access the Lost Lake Trails, an area of hiking and
cross country ski and bike trails that cater to every level of
ability.
Upper Village
The
Upper
Village is located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain with the
Magic Chair and Blackcomb lifts. This is also where you will find
the Fairmont Chateau Whistler along with other major hotels and
shops. This is where the famous Merlins and Monks restaurant and
apres ski venues are located for your enjoyment.
You can reach the upper
village and the Blackcomb Mountain Lifts by driving up Village Gate
Blvd to the crossroad with Blackcomb Way and turning right. Follow
this around to your right and you will end up at the lifts. Turn
right onto Glacier Drive for more parking and another lift up
Blackcomb Mountain.
Every Sunday during the summer, the upper
village hosts a large market that features the best in local
artisans, fresh produce, horseback riding and something for
all.
